Slated to release in June 2021, the solo Batman film has gotten everyone excited. The first solo film of Batman in the DC Extended Universe, it has the potential to revive the movie franchise of one of the most loved superheroes.
It is no secret that Ben Affleck has bid adieu to the role of the Dark Knight and Robert Pattinson will take up the mantle. While many fans had reacted negatively to Pattinson’s casting, the recently released teasers of his first look as The Caped Crusader has convinced many fans that he is the one. Is the new Batman film an origin story?
While Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy traces the hero’s, it is not a part of the DCEU. Thus, when a solo Batman film was announced, many speculated that it might be the origin story of the Dark Knight in DCEU . However, the director Matt Reeves has clarified that though the plot would be an original, noir-driven story, it won’t be an origin story.

How old is Pattinson’s Batman?
Robert Pattinson being chosen to play the role logically indicates only one thing – we are going to see a younger version of the Caped Crusader on the screen. And as the film is not going to be an origin story, it means that the it will be set in the period between Bruce Wayne becoming a vigilante and him meeting Superman.
What superpowers does Batman have?
Though The Dark Knight is perhaps one of the most famous and loved superheroes of all times, he doesn’t have any superhuman powers or abilities (unlike his other Justice League friends). He is a human with a genius-level intellect, who trained and mastered various martial arts. Though his vast wealth gives him access to high-tech equipment, there is no denying that he has extraordinary detective skills. This aspect of his personality was somehow overlooked in the portrayal of the Affleck’s Batman. Thus, it would be interesting to see a film that lives up to the name of “World’s Greatest Detective”.
Who are the villains in the new Batman film?
If we were to depend on the current casting news, the film will feature anywhere from two to six villains. Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin and John Tuturro as Carmine Falcone have been confirmed by the Reeves himself. Harvey Dent is also rumoured to join this supervillain squad.
Whether Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke will make an appearance is still unknown. Back in 2016, when Ben Affleck was still attached to this film as the director and star, Manganiello’s Deathstroke was confirmed as the main villain. But now with Affleck no longer associated with this project, there has been no clarification on the status of Deathstroke.
Have any photos been released from the sets?
Director Reeves shared the first look of the Batsuit. In the video, dark and intense music can be heard, followed by Pattinson in the Batsuit, bathed in red light and face hidden by the Batman’s cowl.
Recently, Reeves also shared the first look of the new Batmobile. This version of the iconic vehicle has a more rustic and grounded spin on the car, as compared to the previous films.
